Akira San was born and brought up in Gunma Prefecture in Japan. He started his Goju Kai Karate career in 1984 and received the Japan Karate Federation rank of 2nd Dan (Nidan) in 1990. Akira's teacher was Sensei Fukatoshi (Director of the Japan Karate Federation). Like Sensei Oakley, Mr Fukatoshi was a student of the late Master Gogen Yamaguchi. Master Gogen Yamaguchi was the founder of the All Japan Karate Do Federation Goju Kai and held the rank of 10th dan.
Akira San came to Australia in 1991 and for many years sought a suitable school to further his Karate training. We are very fortunate that Akira chose to train with us when he joined our school in 1999. He is a most welcome and very experienced addition to our school.
